How to file tax return via internet in Japan?
There was a change of tax law of Japan.
Until now, when a person submits Blue tax return, he can apply for income deduction of 650,000 yen.
However due to a change of law, the amount of income deduction is reduced to 550,000 yen.
If tax rate of your income tax is 30%, amount of your tax will increase by 30,000 yen.
On the other hand, if you apply for tax return by internet, you can still use income deduction of 650,000 yen.
So in this page I would like to explain how to submit tax filing via internet step by step.
At first you can visit this page. https://www.e-tax.nta.go.jp/kojin.html and scroll down the page and click the circle.
If you are a soleproprietor, you can select below.
You can acquire ID number (使用者識別番号) from below red circle.
I have already explained how to acquire ID number for e-tax website in this page.
Once you have received ID number, you can return to below page.
In order to file tax return by internet, you need to purchase Card reader writer via amazon etc.
And you can visit city office and receive “My number card”. When you apply for it, you can set up password.
And you can visit below page.
Or you can search with “e-tax web版”.
And you will click red circle.
You can attach your “My number card” and card reader writer to your computer and click below circle.
You can enter your password (pass word that you set up at city office). 4 digits.
You should have ID number (利用者識別番号) issued by e-tax website and your password for e-tax website.
So you can click below circle.

You can click red circle below and E-tax website will detect your “My number card” via card reader writer.
You can enter password again as below.
Once e-tax website detects your card, your personal information will be shown like below.
Now you can return to main page and submit tax filing via website as below.
