Diploma degree and work visa in Japan

Diploma degree ( Senmonshi=専門士 ) and work visa in Japan

In the case a foreign national graduate from special  training college ( Senmon gakko ), she can acquire diploma degree ( senmon shi = 専門士).

But, not all of special training college grant diploma degree.  Some special training colleges are designated by Japanese government and they can grant diploma degree.

In the case  a foreign national obtain diploma degree, if she can find her job in Japan, she can get status of residence of ” education ( kyoiku ) “, or ” engeener(gijutsu)  “, or  ” specialist in humanities / international service  ( Jinbun chishiki / Kokusi gyomu )”.

However, relevance between what she studies in special training college and content of her job is strictly examined compared to in the case of bachelor degree ( Gakushi degree ) .

In order to obtain diploma degree, she needs to go to college for two or more than two years.

A person specialized design of jewelry in special training college and acquired diploma degree.
She submitted that she would work at computed related company and consulted with foreign customers and conduct translation of documents.  Her monthly salary was 200,000 yen.
However, the content of her major and content of her job was irrelevant, thus she could not get status of residence for employment.

A person majored Japanese – Chinese language interpretation department and acquired diploma degree.
She submitted employment contract with a company to obtain status of residence for employment.

The purpose of the company was to making lacquered artiles and selling it.
The amount of monthly salary was 125,000 yen.
She claimed that she had an opportunity to translate some documents in the company and assist in painting lacquer.
However immigration office thought opportunity of translating, interpreting Chinese language is very small and most of her work will be painting lacquer.
This is irrelevant to what she studied in her college.
Moreover, the amount of salary of a Japanese national who was employed at the same timing of her employment was 170,000 yen.
So, there is a difference between Japanese national and foreign national.
In order to obtain status of residence for employment, a foreign national should receive as same or more amount of salary as Japanese national.
So, she could not obtain status of residence for employment in Japan.

A person majored in Manga, animation department at special training college and acquired diploma degree.
The she made employment contract with a company it purpose is computer related service.
Then, the amount of her monthly salary is 220,000 yen and she engaged in making game software.
In order to making game software, her knowledge studied at college was necessary.
And the amount of her salary was as same as other Japanese national employees.

Thus, she could obtain status of residence for employment in Japan.
